Lodewijk Vos worked as the in-house composer for MTV,Comedy Central and Nickelodeon in Amsterdam before moving to Toronto to work as a freelance composer. He has worked out of San Francisco, New York City and studied with Tom Elmhurst (mixer of Adele, Amy Winehouse, The Black Keys) in Avignon, France.
Joseph Murray graduated with an Honours degree in Music from the University of Guelph where he focused his studies on Music Composition. Covering a wide range of musical styles including Classical, Jazz, Avant Garde, Electronic & Pop, this background allows him to adapt his skills to various projects.
Working together as MENALON, Lodewijk & Joseph have scored, produced, remixed, installed and performed on a wide variety of projects. On the commercial side some of their top clients include: Google, HBO, MTV, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Adidas, Roots, Advil & The Bay. On the film and television side, they have scored features, documentaries and shorts that have screened at Sundance, TIFF and at film festivals Internationally, including Director X’s debut feature, Across the Line, and the award-winning shorts: The Weatherman & The Shadowboxer, Bacon & God’s Wrath and Guidance.
In 2014, the duo attended the Canadian Film Centre’s Music Lab chaired by Mychael Danna. The pair are currently scoring VICE’s new hit television show, Cyberwar, as well as the upcoming SyFy show,Halcyon, which has episodes in Virtual Reality. Other interactive projects they have worked on include online episodes for ENDGAME and Rookie Blue as well scoring 6 books for the iPad series, Weirdwood Manor. Menalon regularly collaborates with well-known Canadian artists including: Shad, Cancer Bats, Stretch Orchestra and Little Scream. They recently completed the NFB feature documentary Unarmed Verses, and the horror film, The Void.
